The history view of Git Source Control Provider is unique. Not like other Git programs, such as Gitk, Git Extensions, TortoiseGit and etc. usually show Git logs vertically, Git Source Control Provider displays commits horizontally with heads, tags and remotes annotations. The horizontal view is easier to understand.

The history view has a simplified (or condensed) mode, which omits commits that are less important. Only commits that have refs (heads, tags and remotes) or have multiple parents/children will be displayed. E.g. There are 5 commits in the following picture.

 

Using simplified mode, it becomes like below. The benefit of the simplified mode is that it emphasizes the branch structure with less details.

 

Finally the the history view can be exported to xps files.

This is "about" the history command. But could we add "how" to access it
