If you have interests in compiling/debugging the source code and, here are the steps to follow
Install Visual Studio 2010 SDK, if you have not insatlled yet
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=2680
Clone the source code from Github, this creates the source folder
$git clone http://github.com/yysun/Git-Source-Control-Provider.git
Run git bash in the source folder to update the submodule
$ git submodule init
$ git submodule update
Open BasicSccProvider.sln in Visual Studio 2010
Configure Visual Studio debugging settings
  • Right click project "BasicSccProvider", Set as StartUp Project, and then select Properties ...
  • Goto Debug Tab
    • Set Start External Program: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe
    • Set Start Options: /rootsuffix Exp
Experimental Build/Debug in Visual Studio
Press F5, the experimental instance of Visual Studio will launch with Git Source Control Provider installed.
Install to Regular Visual Studio
Rebuild the solution, the GitSccProvider.vsix in the bin\Debug or bin\Release folder can be deployed to regular Visual Studio by double clicking it.
